Workbench ("we", "the site") provides free file conversion tools at convertpro.eu. This page explains what happens to your data when you use them, and what does not happen. It describes the site as it actually works today, and says clearly where something is planned rather than active.

1. Your files

The conversion tools on this site — the Image Converter, Merge PDF, and Image to PDF tools — run in your web browser using JavaScript. When you choose or drop a file into one of them, the browser reads that file into the page's memory and processes it on your own device.

Your files are not uploaded to a Workbench server, not placed in a processing queue, and not stored by us. We have no access to the contents of any file you convert, and we do not hold copies of them. The result is kept in your browser's memory until you save it, and the download link stops working when you close or reload the tab. Conversions are not associated with a user account or profile, and no account is required or offered.

If you would like to confirm this rather than take our word for it, load a tool page, disconnect from the internet, and run a conversion — it will still complete. The guide to browser-based conversion describes this and other checks.

2. Hosting and server logs

Loading any page on this site involves a request to a web server, as with any website. Our hosting provider may automatically record standard technical information about those requests. That typically includes the IP address making the request, the date and time, the pages or files requested, the referring page, and the browser and operating system your browser reports.

This information is produced by the act of serving the website, and is used for operational and security purposes — keeping the site running, diagnosing faults, and identifying abuse. It is not used to build profiles of individual visitors, and it does not include the contents of any file you convert, because those files are never sent to the server.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser at a website's request. Related technologies include browser storage, device identifiers, and pixels or tags embedded in a page.

Workbench does not currently set any cookies of its own, and the tools do not store your files or your settings in your browser between visits. Cookies and similar technologies may, however, be set by third-party services included in the site — in particular by advertising, described below. Where that applies, they are set by the third party under its own policies rather than by us.

You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. Doing so does not stop the conversion tools working, because they do not rely on cookies.

4. Advertising and Google AdSense

Current status: advertising is not being served on this site as at the date above, and no ad-serving code is present on these pages.

This section describes what will apply once advertising is enabled. This status and the disclosures below will be updated when ad-serving or consent-management code is deployed to the site — that is, at the point the code is added, not only when a visible advertisement first appears.

This site intends to display advertising supplied by Google AdSense to cover its running costs. When advertising is enabled:

Google describes what it collects through sites that use its services, and why, on its own page: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can review and adjust ad personalisation for your Google account at Google Ads Settings, and opt out of personalised advertising from participating vendors at aboutads.info/choices.

Advertising does not change how the conversion tools work. Your files are still processed in your browser and are not sent to us, to Google, or to any advertising partner.

5. Third-party advertising partners

Advertising delivered through Google AdSense may involve other advertising technology companies acting as Google's partners — for example to supply the advertisement shown or to measure whether it was seen. Where that happens, those companies may set or read cookies and similar identifiers, and may receive technical information such as your IP address and details of the page being viewed.

Advertising on this site may therefore involve Google together with other advertising technology providers, which we do not select individually. Where a consent mechanism applies, the vendors involved and the purposes they rely on are presented through that mechanism, and Google's documentation linked above describes the arrangement more fully.

6. Other third-party resources

To be complete about what your browser contacts when it loads this site: web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which reveals your IP address and browser information to Google, as any web request does. The PDF tools use two open-source JavaScript libraries, pdf-lib and PDF.js, which are served from this site rather than from a third party. None of these requests includes the files you are converting.

7. Analytics

Current status: no analytics service is installed on this site as at the date above.

We may add a website analytics service in future to understand general traffic patterns, such as which pages are visited and how often. If that happens, this page will be updated at or before the point the service is introduced, naming it and describing what it collects.

We will not describe analytics data as anonymous unless that is genuinely the case. Many analytics services process information such as IP addresses, device and browser characteristics, and identifiers that can relate to an individual, whether or not a name is attached to them. Any future analytics would be described accurately here, and would fall under the consent mechanism below where consent is required.

8. Your choices in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, data protection law gives you rights over personal data relating to you. These include the right to request access to it, to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, to object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

Two practical points about how those rights apply here. First, we hold very little: no accounts, no uploaded files, and no visitor database. Requests concerning server logs are handled with our hosting provider, and requests concerning advertising data are usually best directed to the provider holding it. Second, where consent is required before advertising or analytics technologies are used, it will be requested through a consent banner, and you will be able to change or withdraw your choice afterwards.

To serve personalised ads to users in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google requires publishers to use a Google-certified consent management platform that integrates with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF). Choosing non-personalised advertising instead does not automatically remove all consent obligations: non-personalised ads may still use cookies or similar identifiers for purposes such as frequency capping, fraud prevention and aggregated reporting, so consent may still be required depending on the technologies used and on applicable law. Where advertising is enabled on this site, a consent mechanism will be used to obtain and record your choices.

If you have a question or wish to make a request, please get in touch and we will help where we are able to.

9. Links to other sites

This site links to third-party websites, including documentation and the Google pages referenced above. We are not responsible for the content or the privacy practices of sites we do not operate. Advertisements, once enabled, also link to destinations we neither control nor review.

10. Children's privacy

This site is intended for a general audience and is not specifically directed at children. We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children, and no part of the site asks for it. Where consent is used as the legal basis for processing personal data relating to a child, applicable age and parental-consent requirements depend on local law.

If you believe a child has provided personal information through this site, please contact us so we can look into it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy — for example when ad-serving or consent-management code is deployed, when an analytics service is added, or when a tool changes in a way that affects data. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised date at the top. Where a change materially affects how your data is handled, we will say so rather than relying on a silent edit.

12. Contact

If you have questions about this privacy policy, or a request relating to your data, you can reach us at hello@convertpro.eu. Further details are on the contact page.

A note on scope

This page is a plain-language description of how the site handles data. It is not legal advice, and it does not replace the policies of the third-party services described above, each of which governs its own processing. Our Terms of Use cover the conditions for using the tools themselves.
